REPORT: (by Kathy van Beuningen, TK9989)
An other excellent day at the museum!
Members of 501st Legion Midwest Garrison and Rebel Legion Midwest Base met children of all ages today at the Museum of Science & Industry's sold-out exhibition of Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination here in Chicago.
Our Members spent the morning and early afternoon in the museum's new entrance area, the Great Hall.
Luke Zintak (Luke) and Deidra Culp (Leia) joined our Imperial baddies in welcoming all of the visitors to the museum.
We all posed for pictures galore with the opportunity for breaks being few and far between the numerous photo-op requests.
We didn't have extra costume support people along with us today. Consequently, we will not have very many photos to share of today's adventure.
** ONLY 2 more events / weeks left of the exhibit and then it will be off to The Franklin Institute Science Museum http://www2.fi.edu/ in Philadelphia (Opens February 9, 2008)

So far every trooping event has presented one moment that stood out from the rest.On 12/22 some guy asked if he could get a pic of me arresting him.I was more than happy to oblige.I cranked his right arm up behind his back, grabbed him by the back of the neck and pinned his head to the wall. After the pic was taken,he said "Hey,you're pretty good at that!"I responded "That's my night job."Which is true.

And my favorite moment...
A father with his 3 boys had posed for some photos with us...
later I saw all of the boys lined up sitting on a bench in front of the gift shop...
I sat down on the bench with them....this was my first time ever attempting to sit in my armor...it actually didn't go to bad...
we "chatted" (ok...as good as one can chat with a helmet full of "rain" on their head) and the father got a good chuckle out of seeing us all lined up on the bench...and he took a photo....
Some other nice patron "knocked" on the back of my bucket to let me know I dropped my camera...didn't even realize it....and they posed for a photo so I could see if it still worked...
As noted too...
The exhibit was completely sold out by about 10:30 AM....
for some...
we were as close as they got to "Star Wars"...

Yeah -- it was raining inside my helmet too, but not because my batteries were not strong enough. There were some of the cutest kids ever there. You could just tell on their faces how much this meant to them to meet 'real' Star Wars characters and shake the hands of 'real' stormtroopers.
Quite a few kids asked where Darth Vader was. I told them he was doing his Christmas shopping.
A couple kids even asked about Obi Wan.
