Need help on a SW costume...

Post by Grunt »

I need some help from someone who may have a NON-Star Wars costume they have done.
I am doing a Gamorrean Guard, my head is done, working on the rest.I have a pair of halloween costume hands which look very much the Gamorren, but they are flesh colored.

Has anyone every been able to PAINT, DYE, or some other way change the color of these things?

Acrylic works great but flakes off, I have ruined two pairs trying to seal with a fixative, one turned out all sticky, and the other melted.

I have read of mixing paint with rubber cement in very thin and bilding up layers. ANYONE ever try this?

What of a rit dye, several coats?

If any one has an idea. Please let me know :?:

Did you try Fusion paint? It's supposed to bond to any type of plastic, I don't know about rubber. It worked on my scout bucket and that's pretty flexible vinyl...especially once it gets heated up  as summer reminds me.
The colors it comes in are pretty limited.

There's probably other/better stuff but I'm just throwing you what I know.

Gamorrean hands

Thanks everyone. I got them done. I ended up using permanent markers from the art store.
Not a perfect match but should look good. Since the upper ame is seperated from the hand by a bracer they should look just fine. Also finished my axe, I think it looks great. Metal head with a oak handle.
