IL-Cal City Armor Party-11/7/09
The second annual Cal City Armor Party is in the bag and I do believe we all had a great time.At the least,we all ate good!
Last year we went a solid twelve hours.I was hoping to beat that this year, and we did.By two and a half hours!
First in the door was dadvader at 1:40 PM.Last to leave were Joseph and Steve at 4:04 AM.
In between chowing down and BS'ing,we actually got some stuff done.Rich worked on his Snowie bucket and Scott put the finishing touches on his Imperial Gunner helmet and belt.We then shot his submission photos.
Rudy breezed in for some dirty rice.
Steve started drilling out the eyes and frown on a nice resin TK bucket.
I fired up the grill twice to make sure we had plenty of eats while Cherri already had the appetizers, side dish and dessert ready to go.The burgers and banana pudding seemed to be a hit.
Pat stopped by and got to wrenching on his Vader electronics.
Eventually the whine of the drill and dremel died down and we got to shootin' the breeze.Next thing you know,it's midnight and Steve launched into some ghost stories. That really kicked ass.
After a few more hours,Steve and Joseph headed home and I got to cleaning up a bit.
I'd like to thank you guys for coming over.I had a blast and hope you did too.
Troops on hand for this AP:
4026 Cherri Krzyzowski
4438 Ed Krzyzowski
1296 Joseph Flores
6312 Patrick Engel
1781 Rich Markle
3052 Steve Szyndrowski
6773 Scott Goebel
3446 Neil Auer
3620 Rudy Grasha
Gotta clean out the bucket before trying it on!Instant grey!

Great party
Thanks for hosting a great party Ed and Cheri!
Yes, we ate good. Those mega burgers were tasty.
The dirty rice. OMG. Should be a staple food for trooping.
My imperial gunner helmet got the finishing touches thanks to Ed's bottle of Novus #2 polish. I found a good antenna for it at Chesters electronics in Kenosha for $2. in a bin full of old bent up antenna. It looks great compared to the bent up aluminum wire that came with it. That is going to the circular file.
I had intended to use an old hard hat liner in the bucket but the way the gunner helmet is formed makes it difficult to do so. After consulting with the troops on hand we hot melt glued in some foam that Ed had on hand.
With some help I have it fitted perfectly. I can bend over and pick things up and it hangs on to my melon just great.
The vinyl cog went on super with a single cut after positioning it with some soap and water.
Got in my suit and we took some fun pictures as well as submission shots which have already been sent to our GML.
I just uploaded the pics from last night into my Imperial gunner album so excuse the "before" shots of my bucket and pauldron in there.
I do like this one though.
Here is the link to all the pictures in the album. Of special note is the blues mobile on top of the TV."Sweet home Chicago."

Thank you Ed and Cheri for opening your house to us and feeding us with some great chow. Sorry I missed the ghost stories but I did learn that watching people on buttered floors is freakin funny! It was good talking with everyone and can't wait for the next AP. Thank you Ed and Cheri again!

I am so sorry I missed this....but I just ran out of steam at the end of the workday/day...
the warm weather on Saturday really took its toll with all the extra gear one has to wear when chainsawing...
I looked at the photos of the gunner costume...
and one thing really hit me...since I have drug out the Hoth backpack/vest
project to finish before "SW in Concert"...
again...things/elements/design from Imperial costumes were also used in Rebel costumes...
The vest for the Gunner is a LOT like the Hoth Vest..

Jim,
Yes it is! I took your advice on that one and bought one! I REALLY like it as did everyone at the party!
I just need to do some sanding and filing and then it'll be paint time!
I had a wonderful time at the party! Ed and Cherri, you two were great hosts! And anytime people want true ghost stories, I know more than enough! I'll probobly have acouple more after next Friday as I've got another investigation!

So are you one of those ghost hunters for real?
I find the show on syfy disturbingly bogis. I could never get through a single show.
