IL, Dwight parade "the Missing man march"

Post by crix »

“THE MISSING MAN MARCH” i.e. “Finding REMO”
What a day this was..
Everything started out good, then I got out of bed J
First I’ll start with the weather.. Crappy with 100% chance of rain.
Told everyone I would be there by 10:00 I don’t think I left the house till 10:00
This was my first coordinated event(except for the movie night, but to me it was one big event)
The guy who was running the whole “Harvest days” was a little over his head..
Very nice guy, but this was his first time doing this and wanted to do it all himself…he needed some help..
But, that’s another story
Anyway, he didn’t have a lot of information to give me, most of it was guess work.
Said we could start at the school and change at the school…we get to school. And they wont let us in.
Anyway, they send us to the church. We get dressed in parking lot…
Then send us to the baseball field. And there we waited and waited….
Finally we get ready to go and then it “Rained on my Parade”
And rained hard!
We start moving and I looked down the road, the group ahead of us was almost gone, they were moving fast
So we moved fast.. I was passing out “Force Mallows” (special thank you to TK118) and when I looked up, I was in the band behind us…
They told us to hand out the candy…::LOL:: yeah right..that lasted maybe 10seconds.. I was throwing them all the way to the houses
One time when I was passing out the candy and I looked up, everyone was GONE.. I missed the turn..DOH!
Then my boot fell apart…arg..
Then we lost REMO!
When we got to the end, the parade was supposed to go in a circle, we were at a different school.. Crap! Now what.
Lucky we seen the church steeple behind the CORN FIELD…we found a trail around it…and were done.
Honestly, at first I was pretty upset, about the rain and no info…until, I started talking to everyone…
WOW! What a great bunch of TROOPERS. Man, you guys are great!
All of em had smiles and said they still had fun..made me feel pretty darn good afterward.
Then we had a nice little game of “FINDING REMO” ! :rollin:
I got to talk to some of the people that watched the parade…they said we made it worth it. Waiting in the rain.
And “best part of the parade”
Now that its over….I am sitting thinking about it…I had FUN! I don’t know how…But I did.
Rain and all.
Thank you to all the Troopers! You really made a crappy day into something wonderful!
Special Thank you to REMO, for giving the parade a very COOL name
“THE Missing Man March!”
Lets do it again……DOH!

Thank you to everyone who brought the goodies to pass out!
and all the Troopers.. if I missed anyone or got it wrong let me know.

Glad to march with you!

You have now learned the secret of successful events: It's not the event itself, it's who you troop with that makes or breaks one of these occasions. MWG people tend to be good to troop with. Welcome to the fold!

Well, I'm glad I was able to provide a little extra fun for everyone. Next time I'm on skates with a tow rope attached to Skull One so I can keep up. :)

Hey, if we can't afford one of those Shriner type cars, the skateboard will work for me. :)

Yeah, I had told Tom it wouldn't count as a TOD for you anyway and I left you off the list.

It's not that you don't count and that we weren't happy to have you there...ooo, what if we did a "Special Guest Appearance by: Kyle Dorothy."

I'm gonna add it anyway :D
