Evanston Walkerfest! 3/20/2010

Post by River »

I know it's a bit late, but "better late than never" now Whinter can stop laying those traps for me!

Mission Report:

In a rainy and VERY Cold spring morning 5 troopers made it out to Evanston to help Walker School Districts. Every year they have a fund raiser known simply as "Walkerfest"!

(Picture with the Principal ALWAYS gets you noticed ;) )

This event held many prizes, games, FOOD, and just plain fun for the kids and their parents.

Our mission, to support the event, and provide a photo op for many of the kids and parents. They were VERY happy to see us!

But after some time a couple of troopers had some fun mingling with the civillians and playing some games:

C'mon trooper PUT YOUR BACK INTO IT!!!

did someone say SKEE BALL?

and some troopers won a very tasty prize!

Still, the troopers mingled quite well with the civilians, especially one little one who was happy to have won a goldfish and named it "Rainbow" she wanted to show it to her favorite trooper:

Can ya blame her? :)

All in all the event raised $6,700 for their school programs. And in the words of Nancy McNamara (Point of contact):
Thank you so much for being a part of the event. Your presence was greatly appreciated. I have heard so many positive comments about the Star Wars Characters. Parents and kids really loved seeing you guys and you definitely added a sparkle to the event. I have already heard many comments about getting you guys set up in a more prominent spot next year. So, we are definitely hoping you guys will consider joining us again at our carnival next spring.
I told her, absolutely! and hopefully next year we won't rank at #9 :)

The troopers in attendance:

Whinter Fenlynn - TB3127
Brian Troyan "Fleetfang" - TK 8968
Neil Auer "Trooper Neil"- TK3446
Thomas "Crix" Turner - IC4913 (Rebel Pilot)
River - CC-3166

Thanks everyone who came out and helped, they are discussing having us do more next year!

Thanks for posting the Mission Report...

It is really important to do so because it helps with the TOD tracking and the Charity reporting...

I don't know if the MWG will be able to add the $6,700.00 amount to our charity totals...
but I am sure gonna find out...

:D

I posed the question in the Charity Rep forum about the $$ collected at this fundraiser...
as it turns out...
MWG can put this in our totals as "indirect".

Point being...we are asked to participate to try to bring in more people to generate more funds...
so this is something that I can add to our Charity totals..

so ....
folks...
post those mission reports...
they help a lot toward record keeping - both TOD and charity!

I, uh, killed a jedi and took it! Yeah! That's the ticket!

Actually, it proved pretty handy to have for photo ops. I haven't busted it out since that troop, but I might in the future. It's a whole lot easier to tote around than a second blaster, that's for sure! ;)
