The Midwest Garrison was called upon once again to help with another special Lucasfilm event in Chicago. This time it was for the 30th Anniversary celebration of the Empire Strikes Back, hosted by the Field Museum.
The evening began with a special reception with George Lucas for 120 guests. This ticket also included a viewing of the ESB in the museum’s theater and a gift bag for each guest. Our job was to mingle with everyone and be there for photo ops at the reception, as well as before the first viewing of the film.
Once the show started for all the guests, Mr. Lucas came out of the theater and was kind enough to chat and take a photo with us before leaving the event.
Then is was off to the green room so that R2 could recharge and the guys could get out of costume and get something to eat before the next group of guests started arriving for the second show. But before we did, we decided to have some fun with “Sue”…
After we “recharged”, it was time to suit back up to meet and greet the second bunch of guests that were arriving to see the 10:30pm viewing of the Empire Strikes Back. This time the atmosphere was a little more relaxed and everyone was starting to get tired. More photos were taken with the guests before the second show, and then it was time for everyone to suit down again so we could relax and watch the show as well.
It was a very long day, but I believe we all had fun. A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone that came out to the event… and to Aimee for doing all the legwork! I’m sorry you couldn’t actually attend the event. We missed you.
