After attending the Joliet Public Library Star Wars event, a few of us headed over to the fine town of Yorkville for Andrew's 6 year-old birthday party. The parents, Mark and Holly had everything set up well ahead of time, and all of the kids were in the back yard as we arrived at their home. We were led upstairs to a couple of bedrooms where we changed and then had the task of navigating down those stairs in full costume. After walking out the front door, we were led around the house to the back yard to greet the very stunned kids.
When we were finished with outside individual and group photos, the kids were divided into 2 groups: one to go inside for lightsaber training with Darth Vader, and the other group remained outside for games like feeding Jabba the Hutt (bean bag toss (or whatever it was actually called)), and some other games . . . I don't know exactly what went on out there. After they all completed their games, the two groups switched (outside group went inside, while the inside group went outside). Then after having completed those games, we all went on to destroy the Deathstar out front where several Deathstars were drawn on the driveway with chalk. It was then up to the kids to "destroy" them (keeping in their groups, working together) with water balloons. It was left to Lord Vader to declare a victor . . . I had to go with the team Andrew was on.
We then went inside to celebrate with cupcakes and finally award everyone with a certificate of Jedi Knight. The kids had a blast, and so did we. Mark and Holly also sent us a kind note:
And now for a few clickable photos, and a link to view all the pics (special thanks to Lizzy for taking them)!Thank you so much for coming to Andrew's party. It was so much fun and what great memories! You, Kyle and James were amazing and we truly appreciate your coming. Everyone had such a great time. I know the kids will remember it forever.
Thank you so much!
