On March 27th and 28th, Vader’s Fist descended on Chicago’s Navy Pier at the request of Reed Exhibits. We were a vanguard force, there to spread the word about the eminent arrival of the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2), a mere three weeks away.
I am pleased to report that we were greeted as liberators by the native population. A steady stream of people, there for one of Navy Pier’s Family Fun Day weekends, enthusiastically gathered to stand with the proud members of the 501st.
In addition to the usual life-forms we have come to expect on this planet, we also encountered a group of super-beings that possessed extraordinary powers. At first, we took them to be strange Jedi, albeit dressed in fanciful costumes, but we soon realized that they were actually from an entirely different universe, and that even there, they were rarer and stranger than any of the Old Republic’s traitorous dogs. An amazing spider/man, an Amazonian princess, a paranormal bounty hunter, and a number of women who claimed to be “ex-men”… After an initial battle, they came to understand the might of the Empire’s New Order, and they joined us as heroes in our cause for C2E2. I have a feeling that we have not seen the last of these “super-heroes”…
Over the course of the weekend, we spread the word about C2E2 and put smiles on a lot of faces. We encountered high school choirs, bands, sports teams, and people of every age. More than a few times, I heard enthusiastic girlfriends, wives, and grandmothers gushing about how their men would be so jealous that they missed out on seeing us. Our mission was a rousing success, and Reed could not have been more pleased with our performance. I’d personally like to thank everyone who came out to make it a great weekend!
Here are some of my favorite photos from the event:

Natives begin to gather...
The ladies love a man in uniform...
Even Jedi Knights are ready for C2E2!
The early morning contingent of Day Two!
Reinforcements are on the way!
The full Day Two contingent!
Spanning the Trilogy for C2E2
And what cross-over would be complete without a battle between heroes?
Gearing up for exploration!
Examining the strange local flora...
...and fauna.
Whinter the scout and Winter the snow leopard!
