IL-Stickney Public Library 3-5-11
A last minute "troop" came up from the Stickney Public Library this past week. They were having a program called "Hidden Star Wars" at the Library and wondered if we could get a few troops out there to lend some atmosphere.
Well, lend we did. We got a great last minute response from our Troops and we ended up with more costumes than I could have hoped for.
I really didn't know what "Hidden Star Wars" meant, but the program turned out to be most interesting, well, at least to me as one who really doesn't view all the commentary on the DVDs when they are released. The speaker covered all 6 movies and revealed some of the hidden easter eggs and also pointed out some subtle moments in the films that had deeper meanings than one might imagine. After the the speaker was done, we did some photos with the people that came to hear the talk.
My very sincere thanks to our participants today:
PARTICIPANTS -
Aimee Jorgensen – Biker Scout - TB 0101
Ed Kryzowski – Tusken –TI 4438
Mark Berry – Boba Fett –BH 4265
Kevin Glass – Stormtrooper – TK 2834
Artoo Gochi - Droid
Thomas Turner – Count Dooku - IC 4913
Mike Riemma – Tie Pilot – TI 1659
Brian Troyan – Biker Scout- TB 8968
Phyllis Schulte-X-Wing Pilot – TK 1951
Costume Support:
Belinda Berry - ID 5187
I was expecting to have Crix in his X-Wing Pilot costume and boy...did I get a surprise when he showed up as Count Dooku!
Sigh...that left me and Artoo to defend the Alliance...
but....the Dooku looked fantastic!
Even though the crowd was a little small, a good time was had by all:
finally got a photo of me and Artoo when I am actually wearing a costume that makes sense to be with an Astromech..

Great report, Phyllis!
And Crix, you are the Bearded Men of Star Wars! the Dooku was a fantastic find, and it looks GREAT on you.
I had a fun time hanging out with everyone today. It was a small event, but I had some big laughs (and plenty of giggles)!

Re: IL-Stickney Public Library 3-5-11
I received a check today for $100.00 from the Stickney Public Library. The check is made out to the American Red Cross to be used for the effort in Japan.
The letter with it said the following:
"Once again thank you and your group for making our March 5, 2011 event a major success. Our Village residents are still talking about the Saturday program and how the people in costume added to the day.
I have enclosed a check made out to the American Red Cross as a small token of our gratitude. The library staff is also collecting donations to send to the American Red Cross to help the nation of Japan."
I will be sending the Library a thank you and also inviting their patrons to visit us at the Joliet Library.
Thank you again to all who came out for this event.
