IL Schaumburg-Legoland Discovery Center FRI-SUN 1/28-1/30/11

Post by TK3446 »

We had a very successfull first major troop of 2011. It was a long 3 day troop and everyone hopefully had a great time. I know the people at Legoland did. The Legoland folks did a great job with having a lot of activities for the kids to do for the SW weekend. A big thanks to Nic Belmonte for getting whatever we needed (pizza and water) and allowing our families to join us and have fun at the place. Sounds like this event will happen again over the summer. Thanks to all the Troopers that came out for this. A special thank you to the Troopers that came out on Friday. Trooping on a Friday from 11-4 is tough because of work. I know Fleetfang took the day off to come help out. Kudos to Jim Noland for driving up to help out on Sunday. Legoland also raised over $600 for Merlin’s Magic Wand, their company’s charity organization (http://www.merlinsmagicwand.org) from the Slave 1 build they had on the second floor. It is the most money they have raised to date for the donation builds. Thank you to our handlers/photographers too.

Here's an email sent from Nic from Legoland.

Neil,

I’m so sorry I couldn’t say goodbye before you left today. On behalf of LEGOLAND Discovery Center Chicago, I want to extend a HUGE THANK YOU to you and the rest of the 501st Legion. You all are so amazing with guests and especially children. The amount of effort that you all put in to our event was felt throughout the Center and it really pulled everything together to make the event as successful as it was. Believe it or not, we welcomed 5,000 guests to the Center this weekend! That is huge! I cannot say enough good things about you and the other members that were here. Guests, employees, and even people on the street were giving us compliments about you all.

Nic Belmonte | Marketing Assistant | Merlin's Magic Wand Champion
LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Chicago
Streets of Woodfield | 601 N. Martingale Road | Schaumburg , IL 60173

And yes we did have a Washko sighting.

Phyllis- I talked to Nic today. They raised $600 for the SW weekend while we were there. They are still selling the Slave 1 ships and to date have raised just over $1000. He couldn't tell me when they will stop selling them. So either $600 or $1000. I would put down $600 cause we were there at the time that money was raised but it's your call.

As per the new directive to Charity reps, I am trying to re-construct the 2011 "hours trooped for charity".
This was the first one I tackled - thank you Neil for your very good reporting on who was at Legoland and what days...

For this troop...
the total (of course it is approximate...I haven't purchased that time clock yet...lol...)
was

195 hours!

Thank you all!!
