Il-SWReads B & N -Peoria-10/6

When I first contacted them about Barnes and Noble requesting us, saying they were clueless would be an understatement. A conversation later their PR person was excited to have us coming. Sadly, there wasn't a lot of signage or promoting of Reads Day. Luckily, Nicole showed up a bit early and managed to get a display set up right at the front door to gather attention. There were worksheets for coloring, trivia sheets, oragami, and even a recipe for Yoda soda. (which they did serve a few cups of to some kids) Due to another Reads commitment our troop didn't start until 5 and I'm sure that wasn't the best time to be there but it worked. There were smiles on the faces of the children that were there and that means mission accomplished.

Thank you. I saw her FB page, but it looks like there a couple of events mixed in, so I asked if she wouldn't mind letting me know which ones the pictures were from. I just need to know so I can use the correct pictures for each event when I create the MWG Formal Powerpoint.

I noticed quite a difference in the B & N locations but both seemed to have proper signage and everything in place, although we don't know how long it was there. Most of the traffic seemed to be normal Saturday walkup traffic, or at least I didn't hear anyone say they'd "planned" on attending. In Dundee they wanted us to have someone in various areas at all times, my guess was to keep the Dorman signing going, but that's not really needed for Dave. I'd bet that guy could set up a table outside a Jewel and within an hour generate a pied-piperesque line. Overall a huge success and major win for the kids. And the library event couldn't hold a candle to the one Nutshifter puts together in Joliet!
