Il, Peoria- CMN Telethon-Sunday 6/3

Post by BigPapaKev »

This event was originally planned with troopers manning the phones and collecting donations. At the start of the 2 hour time slot, it was decided we were better served having our Biker Scout and TK standing behind the volunteers who were taking the calls. The actual televised portion lasted an hour and after the event both troopers stayed and took photos with the children who were at the event. Sadly, I was a last minute scratch due to another obligation but Mark and Roland handled it wonderfully.

The following morning I was greeted with an email of "thanks" and told the MWG was a huge hit. They will be scheduling a hospital tour/visit in the fall. I am still awaiting a final number on the donations received during this time frame and will post as soon as I have it. This being our 1st attempt at a telethon and the short notice (10 days), I can't wait for next years event. More troopers, more flexible time slots, and some sort of video package on the Garrison will make this even better.

Troopers:TB 4265 Mark Berry
TK 4186 Roland Batrouni

Sounds like you guys did a great job...

If you can get your hands on some photos...that would be great...
and...
if you were invited to attend this event (which I am pretty sure you were)...
you can report the entire amount that this telethon raised as "indirect funds"...

Trying to get my hands on the video footage. I was asked as an individual to do this telethon and it turned into an event through our conversation. We will be invited back for next years I know.

After finding out the event organizer had taken a different job, I have been able to track down the funds raised for this event. During the 2 hours our troopers were present the telethon raised $9,132.00
