The Rockford Public Library had a small event that they staged at The Sullivan Center, 118 N Main St, on February 23, 2013 from 2-4 PM. As soon as one arrived, one had to choose the Jedi or Sith path as Ventress (a staff member) greeted you and gave you a sticker stating which. From there, attendees could participate in various games/activities: SW Trivia; Build-Your-Own Lightsaber (pool noodles that they cut in half and wrapped black duct tape around the first 6-7 inches and you could then decorate with silver tape); fold origami Yodas; make character cubes (6 characters on 2 cubes you color and cut out, top half of the character was on one cube, bottom half on the second) and Yoda puppets (color pics of Yoda and put on Popsicle sticks); Jedi/Rebel training (obstacle course with hula hoops, pop-up tunnels, and at the end one flew a "cruiser"- paper airplane you folded at the beginning- through "hyperspace"- hoops hung from the ceiling); Death Star hot potato; Destroy the Death Star (bean bag toss at Death Star targets); Stormtrooper Bowling (troopers on pins that one got to bowl down); and a room showing the movie that started all this, A New Hope.

We interacted with the attendants, posing for pics, guiding them to the various activities, and trying not (and failing miserably) to get hit by foam sabers. We also got cake (one of the staff member made us a chocolate cake using the vintage 1980's Vader cake pan. There wasn't much left after the initial piece was cut.

I have no pics (where exactly do you keep a camera on a clone?), but Kathy took a bunch and there are a few on other's phones that they can post when they can. I try to see if the Library has any they'd like to share (as they grabbed any of us for a big group pic right before they started tearing down)
