Summary of event: We were asked to attend Drake's 5 Year Bday. We met Drake and his parents at the Maryville Pine Wood Derby the week before. Drake happens to be a huge Darth Vader fan so we were asked if we could attend his birthday. Steve (Darth Vader) got the child some MWG swag, other patches, toys and a helmet. We had a blast and was given birthday cake, ice cream and our own party favor bags from the birthday boy. Mom and dad also made a donation in the Midwest Garrison name to Operation Homefront for military families.

That helmet he's wearing was one of the ICT helmets I had bought. I brought it down for him to wear and take pictures with. However, once I saw how much he loved wearing and playing with the helmet, I couldn't rightly justify taking it away. I'd rather it get played with daily vs. it sitting in my storage 360 days out of the year. There are still plenty more of those helmets anyways...
I mentioned it on Facebook, but people always talk about the impact they make on children on a weekly basis. Usually you don't see how much. After meeting him at the Pine Box event last week and giving him the Vader Car I raced and Scott made, I was amazed to see that he had brought it with him to the party when I asked him if he was enjoying it.
I'd like to thank the other troopers that were in attendance for having me there for Drake's party. As much as we impacted him and his life, he unknowingly did so to me as well.
