We were contacted by Cheryl Gladfelter at Des Plaines Public Library about participating in there Star Wars day. They heard about us through other libraries.
The event went well and both the library staff and the public were excited to see us and take photos with us. We posed for several photos and just mingled with the public, inside the library.

Donation update 5-13-14:
Here is a copy/paste of Cheryl's email and donation information:
"The library will be making an in-kind donation of brand new board books, early reader books, and chapter books to the Self-Help Closet and Pantry of Des Plaines. The Self-Help Closet allows Des Plaines residents in need to receive food and clothes, and other necessities. Many families use this program. When we reached out to the organizer, she said that they would love to receive a donation of books. The books that they currently have are very old and ratty. New books would be very welcome. Families can have their children occupy themselves with books while parents look around and pick up what they need. The organizer also said that families will be able to select books to take home and keep. For these families, new books would be a luxury they can’t afford.
Our donation will be over $500 in brand new books in both English and Spanish and would be greatly appreciated by the Self-Help Closet. We will be making the donation in the name of the 501st Midwest Garrison Legion."
