Toys For Tots Appreciation Bash - 2/9/14

The DuPage County Marines invited members of the Midwest Garrison and Nar Shaddaa Base to their annual Appreciation Bash as a Thank You for the work we've done at the Cantigny Toys for Tots drive over the last several years. We all met up for a burger buffet at Hamburger Jones in Elmhurst, for a great night of camaraderie out of costume.
We gave Captain Javier Martinez, our contact with the Marines Toys for Tots program, a garrison patch and a garrison pin, which he very happily affixed to his sweater. He keeps a collection of pins on a corkboard in his office, and he said that our MWG pin will have a place of honor there. He could not have been more expressive about his appreciation for what we do and everythign that we add to the Cantigny toy drive every year. Capt. Martinez also expressed a hope that we might be able to join the Toys For Tots program for other events this year, as well.



Thanks to everyone who came out that night! Being able to kickback with fellow garrisonmates after a troop is one of my favorite things about trooping, and this event was like a troop that was 100% "after-troop!"
And Dave, thanks for the gas money! I haven't forgotten about it!
