Event Summary: Central DuPage Hospital Child Life Visit #2 is the second in a series of visits throughout 2015. Visit #2 was on a weekend to help the troops who are tied down by their real jobs get out and give back. Although, this visit was on the same day and weekend of Free Comic Book Saturday and the early stages of Star Wars reads days and May the Fourth be with You Day.
The troop still had a great turn out. For many of us this was our second or even our third troop of the day. Our host Ginger felt bad that the kids census was at 9 patients, but we told her the less kids the better because less kids means there are less kids getting into trouble. We did make our way around the hospital even stopping in Mother/Baby. The mothers are on bed rest and waiting to deliver, we took a few pictures with them and they said they cant' wait until their kids are older to show them who stopped by.
We even brought Star Lord along for the ride. Star Lord was pretty much an unknown until the last patient we visited... She loved meeting him more than meeting us! Par for the course. I also think we may have convinced her Rebel Dough Boy really was Chris Pratt!
Again, it is always good to bring a smile to a child's face but even more enjoyable when you can offer a distraction even if it is only for a short time.
